The Cooke County Public Library collection contains a variety of materials. The approximately 75,000 documents in the library include primarily books (both children and adult), patron internet access, magazines, newspapers, audio books, and videos/dvds.

The newspaper collection houses issues of the Gainesville Daily Register and other local papers from the 1800’s to present day. Patrons may use microfilm when conducting queries, except for those that have not yet been transferred to microfilm. Unfortunately, some dates are missing.

Also there is a genealogy section that patrons may use for research purposes. No items in either the newspaper or genealogy collection may be checked out.

The Cooke County Public Library is a member of the TexShare program. Any Cooke County library cardholder can access another TexShare members’ library collection. There is no fee for this service. However fines are assessed the same way and there are no renewals.  For more information on the TexShare program section please see the section on TexShare.

Interlibrary loan is available if an item is not available in our collection. At the current time there is no fee for this service.
