Basic Policies:

 
 
A library card must be in possession for a patron to check items out. No exceptions will be made.
A patron is allowed to check out 20 items on their card. This amount can be a combination of materials. An exception is made for teachers, who may check out items for classroom use. The limit is 15 for them. For the basic patron the following number of items is allowed at one time:
 
Books (includes paperbacks): Limit is 12.
Audio books or videos/dvds: Limit is 4. There is also a limit of 4 per family for videos.  You must be 21 years old to check out videos or DVDs.
 
 A patron must be 18 years old to check out paperback books. Only 2 books at a time are allowed for check out on school projects, except for science projects. However projects are wildflowers, trees and weeds have a limit of 1.
All books can be renewed by phone once and only if not overdue or there is a reserve on them.
A 1-month borrowing record must be established first before videos/dvds may be checked out.
Audio books, cds, videos and dvds ARE NOT to be dropped in the book drop. If they are, a fee of $1.00 per item will be charged.
 

All cell phones must be silenced when in the library. If a conversation is necessary then the patron must go outside to have it.

 

 

 

There is no food or drink allowed in the library. 

 

  

 No smoking is permitted in the building. 

 

Photocopies, faxes and computer print outs are available to patrons. The charge for copies is $.20 per page for black and white and $.50 for color.  In the case of faxes price varies due to location of fax number and paper size used. To send a fax locally it is $.50 per page. For 800 numbers it is $.50 per page. For sending a fax long distance the cost is $2.00 for the 1st page and a $1.00 for each additional page of letter size paper. However, if using legal paper and sending it long distance, the cost is $1.25 after the initial $2.00 charge. To receive a fax at the library the cost is $.50 per page. For overseas faxes a call is placed to the operator for the charge to that location. The price ranges from $3.00 to $5.00 per minute. The fax number for the library is 940-668-5533.

 

Interlibrary loan is available for Cooke County library cardholders, if a book or any other item is not available in our collection. At the current time there is no fee for this service.
