On 2/19/15 the children at Claude Jones were visited by the library’s Mrs. Kim for the “1,2,3…” Program. They read books about farm animals. Then each child was given an animal book to take home thanks to the John and Sandy Schmitz Family.
On February 18, 2015 the children at Sivells Bend School were visited by the library’s Ms. Kim this morning. They were entertained by stories about dinosaurs. Then each student was given a book to take home. Thanks to the John and Sandy Schmitz Family for your support of this program.
In observance of President’s Day we talked about Abraham Lincoln. Then we did an experiment to see what cleaned dirty pennies best. Ketchup was the winner. We discussed honesty and telling the truth. For our craft we built a log cabin.
We LOVED talking about Valentine’s Day today. We did a science experiment with sweet hearts to see what happened when we put them in different liquids. We read books about love and sharing. We also played musical hearts and colored a valentine elephant.
On February 12, 2015 the “1,2,3…” Program sent Ms. Kim to Muenster Elementary today to visit the pre-k classes. She read about trucks and cars. Each child was given a book of their very own to take home. Thank you to the John and Sandy Schmitz Family for your support of this program!
On February 11, 2015 the students at Angel Academy were visited by Ms. Kim for the “1,2,3…” Program. The topic of the books she read was pets. The learned how to care for their library books and thanks to the John and Sandy Schmitz Family were given a book about pets to take home.
Today we read Faith Ringold’s book, Cassie’s Word Quilt. We learned Ringold is the author and the illustrator of this book. Since she uses quilts to make her art we also talked about quilts and made our own quilt block.
On February 5, 2015 the Pre-k students at St. Mary’s school were visited by Ms. Kim today for the “1,2,3…” Program. They enjoyed stories about birthdays. They also learned how to care for their books. The each received a copy of The Alphabet Book to take home. Thank you to the John and Sandy Schmitz Family for your support of this program!
Brrr…we talked about polar bears and penguins today and the cold climate they live in. Then we went ice fishing for Alaskan fish and made our own polar bears.
Today we read about frozen noses and sledding in the snow. We made snowshoes for a horse so he could walk in the snow better. Then we had a snowball fight. For our craft we painted a melted snowman.
