We had the last Art in the Stacks class for the summer this week! We read one of our favorite books, “Cat Nap” by Brian Lies, and then created our very own cats in an Egyptian Art style, just like the artistic recreations in the book.
Library artists used chalk, pencil, and metallic colored pencils to sketch their own unique cats- some were loafing, some had kittens, and some were decorated like the night sky! Then, many of the artists used special metal paper to punch in decorative borders to frame their cat. Catch us in September for the next round of Art in the Stacks!
This program is made possible thanks to a 2026 Save the Children US Summer Reading Grant.
