Friends of the Cooke County Library

Our Mission

The mission of the Friends of the Cooke County Library is to serve as a support group for the Cooke County Library in its service to the community; to raise funds for materials, equipment, and programs that improve and extend services, and to support scholarships to further education in Cooke County.

Our History

The Friends of the Cooke County Library has been around since 1951. Check out this fun April 4, 2023 blog post about the history of the organization.

Fundraising Activities

Over the years, the Friends of the Library used memberships and book sales to help support the Cooke County Library. Unfortunately, as of December 2, 2021 book sales will no longer be held. Instead fundraising ideas will be more creative.

How We've Helped the Library

In the past, Friends of the Library funds were used for:

  • Comfortable chairs
  • Children's events for the Library's Summer Reading Program
  • A puppet theater for the children's storyhour
  • Digital collection enhancement
  • A new circulation desk
  • Computers
  • And much more!

The FOL group even has an Endowment Scholarship at the local community college, North Central Texas College.
