Our Literary LEGOs club met for their last session yesterday. They had a free build topic so they could show their creative side. At the end of the class, they each received their own LEGO Movie book to keep. The books were donated by the Friends of the Cooke County Library.
Thank you to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Friends of the Cooke County Library for your support in this program!
Today the younger kids learned about measurement while talking about animals and how big or small they are. They measured an elephant footprint, measured each other and sang and danced about animals. Then they colored a giraffe and gave it spots. The older kids talked about space with Ms. Jennifer. They talked about planets, constellations, NASA, and they even got to wear a space helmet!
Marshall Mitchell performed Cowboy Music for Kids today at NCTC’s Little Theater. We sang and danced to his guitar. We also learned the meaning of respect, responsibility, honesty, integrity, and courage.
Oh what fun we had today! The younger kids learned their colors with Ms. Jill Linnell. They also sang, danced, and colored. The older kids topic was robots with Ms. Kim. They talked about different types of robots around us. Then they built their own robots.
Yesterday, 8/5/14, we had a children’s class on fish and pond life. Ms. Jennifer read about what lives in and around a pond. We went fishing and got to hold real cat-tails. Thank you to Miss Sadhvika for planning our fish craft. It was fun!
We learned about science with Ms. Maria Smith today. The theme was Fizz, Boom, Read. We talked about electricity. We sang songs and helped Ms. Maria with her skits. Thanks for visiting!
Kelly and Becky, clowns from Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey circus visited yesterday! They did great tricks they learned at the circus. Now we all want to learn how to juggle! They also told us how important it is to read.
The theme today for our Literary LEGOs program was flying objects. The kids all built something that flies. We had spaceships, rockets, and helicopters. Thank you Dollar General Literacy Grant and the Friends of the Cooke County Library for your support in starting this program!
What a busy day at storyhour today! Ms. Kim took the little kids outside. They read about all kinds of bubbles! Bubble baths, bubbles, and bubble gum. Then they made their own bubble wands and chased bubbles in the yard. Meanwhile, the older kids learned about science with Ms. Susan from Science Safari. Fizz, Boom, Read was the topic.
