On 9/30/21 the pre-K children at St. Mary’s Catholic School received a visit from the library’s Ms. Kim and the “123 the Story is Coming to Me” program. They listened to stories and sang songs about school buses. They also learned how to care for their library books. We kicked off our “1,2,3… The Story is Coming to Me” program today. Ms. Kim read to the Pre-K through 2nd grade classes at Sivells Bend ISD. The children learned about the library and received a book of their own to take home. The Art in the Stacks class learned about aboriginal art from Australia. Aboriginal artwork was created to tell stories and visions from dreams. Sometimes they contained secret messages. The class also discussed warm and cool colors to create an aboriginal inspired leaf. #CCLartinthestacks #EducateEngageEnrich

The children from Gainesville Head Start created the first artwork display the library has had since March 2020! We are so excited for our community to be able to enjoy the masterpieces created by local young artists.
Head Start’s artwork will be displayed from September 20 until October 2, 2021. Be sure to check it out!
