Chick-Fil-A Story Time October 9, 2023

On 10/9/23, Ms. Kim read at Chick-fil-A Gainesville (TX). The kids listened to stories and received a memory game to play.
 
Be sure to join in on these early literacy events at your local Chick-fil-A each 2nd* and 4th Monday. It’s a great family outing.

Texas Topaz Nonfiction Gem Reading List

We added the 2023 Texas Topaz Nonfiction Gem Reading list for children to our collection thanks to a 2023 Texas Book Festival Collection Enhancement Grant. Look for the red dots in the children’s nonfiction section. The Texas Topaz List offers the opportunity to learn about various subjects in a fun, recreational format. Texas 2×2 Reading List

The 2023 Texas 2X2 books are here! You can find them on our book list shelf in the children’s area. Look for the big green dots. Texas librarians choose the Texas 2X2 books for children ages 2 to grade 2. These books are excellent for beginner readers and for storytime at home or in the classroom. 123… Little Leopards Broadway October 4, 2023

On 10/4/23 the library’s “1,2,3 the Story is Coming to Me” program read to the 3 & 4-year-old classes at Little Leopards’ Broadway location. Ms. Kim read about hats.
 
The kids learned about library services and received their own book to add to their home library.

Edison Elementary Artwork Display October 2 – October 14, 2023

This display is brought to you by Mrs. Whitney Galubenski Vogl’s art students at Edison Elementary. They created colorful flowers inspired by the artwork of Frida Kahlo in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The featured artwork is from the first grade classes of Mrs. Bates, Mrs. Avila, and Mrs. Lopez.

“123…” Era ISD September 28, 2023

On Thursday 9/28/23 the “1,2,3 the Story is Coming to Me” program visited the pre-k class at Era ISD. Ms. Kim read books about pandas. The kids also learned about the great things they can find at the Cooke County Library.

Each child was given a book of their own thanks to Hector Flores, Modern Woodmen of America.

On Wednesday 9/27/23 the library’s “1,2,3 the Story is Coming to Me” program visited the preschool classrooms at Valley View ISD.

Ms. Kim encouraged the kids to visit the library and read books about dinosaurs!

Thanks to Hector Flores, Modern Woodmen of America, each child was given a dinosaur book to take home.

Art in the Stacks September 25, 2023

In Art in the Stacks this week the kids painted Ferris wheels using ink and a watercolor wash.

Paintings were inspired by The Midnight Fair by Gideon Sterer, a 2022 Texas 2×2 List book.
