Mental Health

As a result of the Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for Texas issued yesterday, all Texans should now be able to call the Texas Department of Health and Human Services’ Disaster Distress Helpline at 800-985-5900 and receive immediate, free, and confidential counseling 24/7. They also have the option to reach the Helpline by texting TalkWithUs to 66746. If someone needs further assistance, the Helpline can provide them with referrals and other support services. Each county has a local mental health authority assigned to it that has a crisis hotline also. You can find your county’s info here: https://hhs.texas.gov/services/mental-health-substance-use/mental-health-crisis-services
